Kim Craft (Owner/Instuctor)

Kim began dancing at the age of three with Ruth Foster who lived a walking distance away, beginning with tap and ballet.  She practiced R.A.D Ballet technique doing exams every year, achieving honors and high honours.

At the age of 12, Kim auditioned here in Saint John for the Toronto National Ballet School, for which she was chosen.  She attended a six week summer course on campus in Toronto, with no communication with her parents.  This was a once in a lifetime experience for her, which will never be forgotten.  Kim was asked to stay and train to become a choreographer, for which she declined, as she was young and not prepared to move away from home.

At the age of 14, Kim began dancing at Eileen McGrath's School of Dance where she was introduced to Jazz.  Kim taught there at the age of 15, opening one of their new locations.  They trained Al Gilberts Syllobus doing exams in Jazz and Tap.  Kim also travelled to New York and Boston to attend many workshops and technique classes.

In 1994, Kim opened my own dance school with 19 students dancing at a church hall.  Look at us now!  A studio of her own with over 100 students and a family oriented school.  Loving every minute of it!

Kristin McCurdy (Instructor)

Kristin began dance at the age of eight with Kim Craft herself at Kim's Academy of Dance, beginning with tap and jazz. Through her years at KAD she also studied ballet, lyrical, hiphop, cabaret and went through Kim's teacher in training program.

Kristin also attended dance camp during her summers at the Imperial Theatre where she also learned modern and flamango. After graduating from High School, she was accepted to Acadia University where she achieved her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance. Kristin continued to study dance while in university and added African Dance to her repertoire.

Upon moving home there was no hesitation on rejoining Kim's Academy of Dance where she is happy to both dance and teach with her dance family.
